Helping Children Shine From Within
I believe every child has an inner strength—even when worry, self-doubt, or everyday challenges make it harder to see.
My work focuses on helping children recognize that strength and develop practical tools to navigate challenges with greater clarity and confidence.
Over the years, I’ve worked with many children who appear capable on the outside but quietly struggle with overthinking, perfectionism, or the fear of not being “good enough.”
What I see is not weakness.
I see thoughtful children who simply haven’t yet been shown how to understand their thinking, respond differently when things feel difficult, or trust their abilities.
With the right guidance and tools, that shift can be both powerful and lasting.
Why I do this work
My passion for working with children is deeply personal.
When my own son was in elementary school and experiencing bullying, I remember dropping him off each morning and saying the same two words:
“Shine bright.”
I wanted him to know that even when others tried to dim his light—or when self-doubt crept in—his worth was never defined by someone else’s words or behaviour.
Those words stayed with me.
They became more than encouragement—they became a belief.
Shine Bright was built on that belief:
• That children can develop inner strength
• That worry does not have to define their story
• That confidence is something that can be learned
• And that challenges do not determine who they are
Helping children learn to trust themselves—especially when things feel hard—is one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
How I Help Children Shine Bright
Shine Bright is a coaching practice designed to help children develop practical tools they can use in their daily lives.
In our sessions, children learn to:
• Recognize and shift unhelpful thinking
• Respond to challenges in a more helpful and confident way
• Develop more supportive and realistic self-talk
• Handle setbacks and peer situations more thoughtfully
This is skill-building work.
Children don’t just talk about what’s hard—they learn strategies they can apply outside of sessions.
A key part of my approach includes story-based coaching through the Adventures in Wisdom® framework. Through engaging stories and guided lessons, children learn concepts like self-talk, courage, and emotional strength in ways that feel relatable and practical.
Stories help turn ideas into tools children can actually use.
Training & Background
I am a Certified Adventures in Wisdom® Coach, a Registered Social Worker (RSW) in Ontario, and a Certified Play Therapist, with extensive experience working with children and families.
My background in Social Work provides a strong foundation for understanding how thoughts, emotions, and behaviour are connected. In my coaching work, I focus on helping children develop practical tools they can use in their daily lives.
Through structured, story-based coaching, children learn approaches they can apply at school, at home, and with peers.
My goal is simple: to help children build lasting skills that feel empowering and true to who they are.
